Summary
Vale Icarus was already at rock bottom when a stranger handed him a cursed coin. Now he’s stuck with Mind—a theatrical, ancient entity who lives in his head, talks nonstop, and drags him through hallucinations like it’s a stage play.
Mind can’t control Vale’s body. Not directly. But he doesn’t need to. He just wears him down, gaslights him, twists his thoughts, and makes sure Vale knows that giving in is inevitable.
Sleep brings visions. Waking brings paranoia. And the only way to pass the coin on… is to die.

Note to self - major spoilers below!!
Part 1: At first this fic's length seems daunting, especially due to the slow burn, but it was very easy to get through because of how much it almost instantly drew me in. I liked how Cas and Dean became the child's parents in the very first chapter - the author didn't waste much time, haha! Castiel ends up being a huge sweetheart and even though I don't really like kids in reality, this one was and incredible, loving, brilliant soul. I really, really liked this author's version of Balthazar, Missouri and especially Metatron - he was nowhere near as slimy and was very pleasant compared to canon. It was nice that the location of Jimmy's soul was resolved quickly - revisiting Purgatory would have probably taken away from this fic. I'm glad Dean didn't have a huge sexuality freakout once he and Cas FINALLY pulled their heads out of their asses and got together (even though it took Dean FOREVER to get over himself just to get to that point, but Dean wouldn't be Dean if he hadn't done this). There are at least 3 different case fics that this Part consists of with various moments of fluff and slow, slow, SLOW Destiel progression between (and sometimes during) them (until we get to the epicness towards the end of the fic). The smut is almost poetically written instead of just being straight-up explicit (hence this series' "Mature" rating) and it's great. In fact, the flashback of Dean being rescued by Cas during their first instance of smut was very, very well-written. The shit that went down with Bella was super suspenseful and seriously put me on edge, but dang if I didn't like the result - the epilogue made me tear-up! Basically, this series' summary doesn't do it justice, but so many awesome and epic things happen that it would really be hard to contain in just a simple summary. Definitely a Rec!!
Part 2: Dean's Dyslexia is addressed.
Part 3: Dean is an awesome big brother for encouraging Sam to revisit and further his higher education.
Part 4: Cas reflects on his relationship with Dean, including various quirks and admiral traits about the hunter.
Part 5: Halloween with Gabriel (re-download if author ever adds more than 5 chapters to this Part since it's not marked as "Complete" yet as of 07/2019). He sends the gang to a "Rocky Horror Picture Show" showing dressed up as the characters. Smut too!
Part 6: A case fic on Thanksgiving involving shapeshifters. This part made me like Azrael even more.
Part 7: Team Free Will does yoga!
Part 8: Not reading yet because as of 07/2019, this part apparently ends on a cliffhanger at the moment and it hasn't been updated in a few years, so....
