“Eddie, you sound stressed,” she tuts, striding into the room and kicking the door closed behind her. Stede watches wordlessly as she climbs onto Ed’s lap, straddling him.
“What are you doing, Annie?” he asks softly, eyes closing when she starts to rub his shoulders.
“Oh come on, we used to have fun like this,” she argues.
His eyes open, glaring at her. “You weren’t very fun tonight.”
Stede has to agree, but even so he watches Ed’s hands travel up her thighs below the robe.
“I think I know what you need,” she tells him, dropping her lips to his neck. Stede holds his breath, shifting uncomfortably in his chair, not quite sure what’s happening.
“Erm…would you like some privacy?”
Anne’s head snaps up, twisting behind to look at him. “No. Care to join us?”

It’s “Fun and Games” but the house doesn’t burn down, Ed and Stede stay the night, and Anne has some ideas about how to help these two make up.

Stede swallows hard. He tries to ignore the pang in his heart from Ed’s words and the heat stirring deep inside him from Ed’s tone, failing miserably at both.
“Yes, but I… I just said I don’t want to hurt—”
“Yeah, well, that’s too fucking bad, isn’t it? You already did, mate,” he bites out every syllable of the endearment that once sounded so casual and sweet coming from his mouth. Like he’s taunting Stede with it. “You fuckin’ left me. So the least you could do is make me fuckin’ feel something again.”

And still, it’s less than he deserves, less than he got from Ed so close to the end.
The crew, none the wiser, ham it up or go about their tasks with all the enthusiasm of a second chance at life. Unable to do either, Izzy upends his mop crutch and does his best to clear the deck of splintered wood and crusted salt and gunpowder.
“Hey, no, no, no.” Fang nags his efforts, dumping armfuls of rotten wood onto Izzy’s tiny pile of dust. “We’ve got this sorted, boss. You get some rest.”

Ed is immobile. He had never seen Stede crying. He is always optimistic, so confident and enthusiastic. Always putting other people’s feelings first, before even acknowledging his own. He’s a hot sunny day, shining brightly for everyone. And now he’s crumbling, falling as heavy as the rain on a summer afternoon.

It was obviously handmade. Couldn’t ask for much in the middle of the sea. Many things were like that here. Mended and glued and sewed until they definitely broke apart. The irony. However, it was nice. Sturdy but firm. They even tried to make it look pretty, with the golden and the good leather straps.
