Summary
Arthur's never been good at expressing her feelings. Hell, half the time she doesn’t even know what those feelings are. One thing’s for certain though: she’s completely and utterly lost without Merlin.
But Merlin is bound to marry a knight someday, Arthur is sure of it. And for whatever reason, the thought of seeing Merlin married, even to one of her most trusted knights, shatters her heart into a billion pieces.
So basically, Arthur is a complete mess.

“What does your soulmark say, Merlin?” Arthur asks once, stung by the need to know, by the way her own mark itches on her thigh. Merlin pauses in the doorway, the dinner meal tray still in her arms.
“None of your business, prat,” Merlin says, nose turned up in exaggerated offense. Arthur doesn’t ask again. There’s nothing between them like what Morgana and Gwen have. Despite herself, it aches. But it doesn’t matter. Merlin doesn’t like Arthur.
Or, well: that’s what Arthur thought, anyway, until Merlin goes and tries to die for her.

What if Arthur knew all along that Uther had Nimueh used magic to allow for him and Ygraine to have a child. What If Arthur knew that Morgana was his half sister and didn't keep this from her. What if Arthur always knew that Merlin was a Sorcerer. What if Arthur wasn't born the son of Uther but instead born the daughter of Uther. Morgana pushes herself up slowly, looking around. She is in the backseat of a car, in what looks like a vast and empty desert, pulled off against the side of a highway. No cars, no people anywhere that she can see. A blonde woman is sleeping in the front passenger seat. Morgana stares at her, confusion overwhelming, even as the dawning horror builds the longer that Morgana studies her features. The sharp edges are there: the tilt of her chin, the shape of her nose, the way that her mouth opens just slightly—it’s all there plain as day, and Morgana feels faint. Furious. Terrified. Why now, after all this time?
She crawls over, flinging open the backseat and vomits down into the dirt.
In the front seat of the Cadillac, the reincarnation of her brother wakes with a start.

“I…” Words died on Arthur’s tongue as she took in the warlock before her, the overwhelming sense of relief upon seeing her for the first time in a week. Tears rose in her eyes, a lump burning in the back of her throat, and she closed her mouth and wordlessly held her arms out to the other girl. A flash of relief danced across Merlin’s face, and within seconds, Merlin had swept across the room and pulled Arthur into her arms. “Merlin,” Arthur whispered with a crack of her voice, clinging to Merlin like a lifeline and burying her face into her shoulder.
“Shhh,” Merlin soothed, running a hand up Arthur’s back. Her grip was warm, firm, and gentle at the same time with an overwhelming perfume of flowers. “I’m here, I’m so sorry–”
“Don’t,” Arthur croaked, tightening her grip on Merlin’s waist. “Please don’t apologize, Merlin. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. It wasn’t your fault.”

Merlin walked down a stony path at the light of the torches and he saw a golden snake slytherin around his ankles and then preceding him, he turned the corner only to see the snake shedding his golden skin for a black-coal one with big red ruby eyes. A maiden was crunched before the snake her hand offered the beast and she seemed enchanted by the animal as it wrapped itself around her wrist, her arm and her neck.
He had had that dream often enough to know it was always followed by another in which the same maiden was on her knees on the ground, her snake-like eyes crazed as she cried and begged and cursed somebody else who stood before her. It was a warrior a warrior whom he had never seen clearly, the only thing he knew that he warrior was lithe and graceful and that long blond tresses reflected the sun and the gold of the chest-plate, the warrior had no sword but was about to serve the final blow anyway. He always tried to stop the warrior, screaming but he was never heard then as the snow started to fall on the ground a voice would call his name in mock-nuisance. Merlin
