Kalim raised his hands infront of his chest, trying to reason with Jamil. Thank god they were alone, for now at least, this screaming wasn’t helping. Jamil would never be able to continue showing his face in this school if anyone besides Kalim saw him screaming over a bug. The taller one quickly hid behind Kalim like a scared little kid. This makes Kalim smile a bit.
“KILL IT!” he screams urgently, his hands still clinging onto the smaller shoulders.

"Who do you think you're fooling?" Jamil grumbled sullenly, but Leona powered on as though he hadn't heard him.

Jamil groaned into his hands. The sunset was not a sight beautiful or peaceful enough to get him to deal with this. He was leaving. He was going back to school, going back to the unsubtle glares and whispers and pointing fingers, the sharp cut of a sudden hush that told you exactly what- exactly who- the abandoned conversation had been about, the narrowed eyes and barely disguised contempt, how could he, how could he, that ungrateful little snake-
Perhaps Jamil was being a bit hasty in leaving.

Perhaps Malleus Draconia captaining the NRC Spelldrive team would have guaranteed them a win. It most probably would have, though that would have had more to do with the fact that the RSA team wouldn't have had a chance to blink before they were mowed down.
As it was, it was Leona Kingscholar who was at the forefront of the NRC Spelldrive team, and Jamil was about to hyperventilate.
What sick fuck thought it was a good idea to put his hair up like that? And the belts- surely, nobody needed that many buckles? It was simply unnecessary, that was what. Unnecessary. Who the fuck needed that many belts? His hair was up in a ponytail. Jamil needed to die. He needed to grab Leona by that fucking ponytail and slam him into the closest hard surface. Jamil locked his hands together, rested his elbows on his knees, allowed his tightly clasped hands to hang in front of him. They were beginning to feel numb already.

Leona couldn't say the same for Jamil Viper.
Jamil Viper was professionally conflict-avoidant. He saw conflict coming at him from miles away and dodged with expert ease. He had eyes on the back of his head and the palms of his hands and the backs of his hands and on every little braid solely for the purpose of identifying conflict so he could escape it before it approached. He spoke so coldly, so measuredly, so mildly that to provoke conflict with him was to feel shame press in on you from directions you hadn't even known existed. He simply tasted conflict on the air and turned the other way round.
He was about two seconds away from socking Kalim in the face.

Perhaps it is because of this, the absolute desperation and the obvious effort put into photos, that Jamil is somewhat surprised to find that Leona of all people had a Magicam account.
It hadn't been intentional, the search for it. Not in the least. In fact, Jamil had come across it completely by chance, after Ace had tagged Leona in a post, a photo of Trey, who, with his tired eyes and general lack of enthusiasm for life, had obviously been forced into this, making a peace sign in his bed in the infirmary. It was captioned "I lived, bitch," which, once again, had Ace written all over it.
Jamil would have written the tag off as Ace being overly optimistic and spiteful, except Leona, or at least the tagged account, had replied in the comments, with a single emoji of a middle finger.
