Gon is a Blacklist Hunter, hired by an unidentified client to locate and capture a sadistic, ruthless assassin who by all accounts doesn't - or shouldn't - exist. He's fought for his strength for this, to save people. He just wants to make sure nobody else gets hurt.
Killua is a product, the decades-long outcome of his family’s loving labour to bend, break, and torture him into a tool of purpose. He is a dog to be set loose, a judgement to be brought down. He is not supposed to want anything at all.
And then one day, he does.

He doesn't want to bother Gon with his struggles, so maybe, just maybe, if he ignores the nightmares, everything will be okay.This story takes place directly after the Heavens Arena arc and right before the start of the Greed Island arc! My goal was to make it fit the canonical timeline with just a few changes here and there!

Prince Gon Freecss and his reluctant bodyguard, Killua Zoldyck, embark on a fake relationship to save them from predatory fae advances as they travel into the realm of Aiai. Gon has no idea Killua is only pretending to be human and is actually on the run from his fae family. Neither of them understand why Gon (who, despite being gifted, is definitely human) develops a mysterious knack for fae magic along the way. A group of magically talented murderers are travelling in the same direction and will kill them on sight. Even if Killua and Gon survive Aiai, they must eventually part, so falling in love is out of the question. Or so they both say, at the start.
Slow burn. Unconfessed love. Jealousy and possessiveness. Deepening friendship and desire.
