But when an expedition goes south, a newly orphaned Anna ends up in the custody of her grandfather - one Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore.
Between the two of them (and her Maman's family in France), they'll muddle along somehow until things get better.
Harry Potter arriving at Hogwarts the year after she transfers in may cause some issues there, though. What kind of (unofficial) apprentice Cursebreaker would she be if she didn't try and help the poor kid?
Albus would appreciate it very much if his granddaughter would let him do his actual job so he can try to stop Harry Potter from dying before he finishes his first year of school. It's bad enough to have one student in Tom Riddle's crossfire, never mind that student being joined by Albus' last living relative aside from Aberforth.

After Albus Dumbledore broke into MACUSA and stole Gellert Grindelwald from the Death Cell. He proses a Correctional Rehabilitation program for his lover by wrangling a job for Gellert as a professor at Hogwarts.
Once a practitioner of the Dark Arts, Gellert will now become a professor in Defence Against the Dark Arts. Though there hasn’t been a professor who’s an ex-criminal before at Hogwarts, until now.
There is so much that Gellert will have to learn. This time there is no running and he will need to be on his best behaviour too with the Ministry's Aurors patrolling the school's grounds and also keeping an eye on him.
With Albus's help, the two set out to rebuild Gellert's image and also, hopefully, avoid getting the words 'sexual misconduct' written into Gellert's Correctional Rehabilitation file kept by the Ministry of Magic.
