He didn’t pine. He didn’t yearn. He didn’t sigh dramatically out the window like some lovesick rom-com protagonist waiting for a text that was definitely not coming.
Except… apparently he did now.
Because it had been eight days since he’d last seen Lance—eight—and Keith was one bad mood away from biting someone’s head off.
Shiro had taken to watching him like one might watch a lion pacing in a too-small cage, silently timing how long until Keith snapped and broke something. Or someone.

“I heard the fire alarm and saw the smoke and you didn’t answer when I knocked, so I thought you might, you know, need some help,” Lance explained with an awkward one-shouldered shrug.
“I don’t need help,” he said dismissively, shaking his head as he eyes narrowed further into a look much closer to a defensive glare. Lance knew it was probably supposed to be intimidating, but he thought it really just looked kind of cute.
“You’ve set off the fire alarm four times in the past hour,” Lance said, raising an eyebrow as he slipped his hands into his pockets. “Are you sure you don’t need help? What are you even doing?”

It didn't exactly go well - they got into a brawl not two minutes after they met. And yet, for some reason, Keith seems to have a hard time saying no to him.
OR A fantasy AU where Keith is a mutant trained to kill monsters from birth, and "Pike" is a thief that has no problem admitting it. This is how they met.
