“She…she needs some space right now,” Wild concluded after a moment, biting his lower lip. “A lot of things happened to her, and she wanted to process it without the pressure of returning to ‘normal’ just yet. She’s safe, but she’s always worried and stays with Robbie and Purah running tests on some lingering side-effects of the transformation.”
Wild cleared his throat again. “But for right now, it just…really sucks for me, because the kids always ask for her and…it’s awkward sometimes, but me and Flora are working through it.”
The…the kids? Twilight wondered.
“We’re getting better together this time," Wild explained. "We’ve got unavoidable responsibilities right now, and that’s most important to the both of us.”
Important responsibilities. Hmm...kids are important, time consuming responsibilities...

Wild refers to the school children as his kids, since he teaches at Hateno. Twilight, Legend, and Wind end up making some gravely wrong assumptions.

Well, not physically, but wherever he went, whomever he spoke with, Link could always find just a handprint of hers, a wisp of the happy memories they shared in the few years since Calamity Ganon’s defeat. People always talked about her, about all the good she had done, how they missed her and impatiently awaited the day she would return. Link wholeheartedly agreed with all of it.
Or, Link is all depressy because he misses Zelda.

Summary
When someone new arrives in town Link can't shake the feeling that she's up to no good. All around town her good deeds are praised and her warmth lingers in the smiles she leaves behind her, and Link can't find a reason for his distrust. He asks Zelda for advice and doesn't hear what he wants- not everyone has to get along, isn't that how it goes?
In the end he is forced to decide whether or not to believe in his new neighbour. The Calamity and Upheaval are both over, Hyrule is at peace and his duties as Zelda's knight are far from needed- perhaps it is time to lay down the sword and let his worries rest. No matter his choice, he hopes he has made the right call. For himself, as much as for her.

Zelda takes his remaining hand carefully and gives him that look. It’s not pity, more like sympathy. Because she cares. And words can't describe the visceral anger it provokes in him. It all comes to a screeching halt when he realises she's fiddling with the ring on his fourth finger, the fire light glinting off her matching one.
“In sickness and in health. Remember? I meant every word.” She shuffled closer so it was harder to avoid her stern gaze. “Listen to me, Link. You’re not worthless or useless. And you’re certainly not helpless either. We've been through far worse than this and – if you’ll let me – I’ll be here every step of the way. I nee- I want to.”

TL:DR - Link's at rock bottom since his latest adventure left him with chronic pain and without his sword arm, and Zelda's hiding her own struggles. Shit happens, Zelda gives Link an intervention and then they talk through their feelings, relationship, and how to salvage a life for themselves. That's it. That's the fic.Series

He saved countless souls, slain countless monsters. It took a year after he awoke— Until finally; Calamity Gannon was slain. With the Master Sword in hand, he fought tooth and nail for Hyrule. He saved the Princess. He united the nation, he won.
The spirits of the fallen champions were freed. Zelda was free.
It was a typical Happily Ever After— except, life doesn’t stop after the credits roll.
