Summary
The drive to the pound is uneventful and when Cas gets in, the vet tech’s already waiting. The process is a little long, but Cas finally gets to hold the German Shepard puppy again. He seems calm and he licks Cas’ jacket.
“No, don’t do that. It won’t taste good,” Cas says.
The vet tech laughs, “What did you name him?”
“I was thinking about naming him Vanitas.”
“May I ask why?”
“I had a friend by that name a while ago. Feels fitting considering how resilient this pup is.”
“Cute. Well, I have the list of when he will need to come in for shots.”
Cas takes the paper. “Thank you.”
“You’re welcome. I’m just glad that he doesn’t have to stay here.”
Cas nods.
Cas is finally taking some well deserved time off from hunting and spending it with Ben and his family. (Dean, Sam, and Bobby are only in the flashback.)
