I’ve been wanting to write this story for soooo long and I finally got around to it! This is an idea that started in childhood when I first fell in love with Disney’s BATB and grew as I got older and wished for it to be more than what it was.
I’m calling this a fix-it purely for the redemptive feeling I get while writing it 😌. It’s a retelling that begins at the start of the film and expands beyond the original.
What to expect:
*Adaptational heroism—Gaston as an anti-hero rather than a true villain
*Fixing the age issue of the beast’s curse—according to the song Be Our Guest and the age given in the original film, the prince was 11 when he was put under a spell for being “vain”
*Fixing the inner beauty message—the beast isn’t beautiful, but Belle certainly is. And the enchantress. And Gaston. And the beast himself once he’s turned back. This has always confused me
*Fixing the Stockholm Syndrome-y parts
*Expanding on the characters’ development both in their personalities and relationships
*Making it 1000% gayer
*Exploring how this spell is most definitely a curse
