After so long, Rumi is free.

The half demon feels him more than sees him, stopping right next to her side as he gently gasps her hand, squeezing it so tightly so thought it might break, the action making her laugh softly. She turns her head to see Jinu giving her an adoring smile, pride glowing on his face. He doesn’t even have to say it to know how proud he is of her, eyes tender with the emotion. Rumi has to will herself to not let herself cry again, doing that more than enough with Zoey and Mira.
“The patterns,” Jinu starts off with, voice barely hiding the awe in it. His smile begins to widen, happy to see the fangs poking out freely in the world. “They look good on you, Rumi.”

Unhappy things, like frantic, screaming voices, and echoes of a nameless pain. The things Gwi-ma allowed him to remember, the shame that kept him obedient and useful in the endless agony of the Underworld.

She felt so embarrassed and mad at herself, Rumi *wanted* to do these things with them, she wanted to feel their touch and feel that intimacy, but it was so scary, so daunting, what if it was a trick. She knew it wasn't logically, knew they would never hurt her, but deep down she worried, 'what if they get my clothes off and call me nothing more than an ugly demon.' She held her own arms tightly and sat against her bed on the floor. Her brain was swarmed with what ifs she knew the answers to.

Summary
The Saja Boys had given their soul to Gwi-Ma centuries ago, and they believed them to be long-gone. The idea that a demon could gain their soul back from Gwi-Ma was entirely impossible to comprehend. But somehow, Jinu was able to regain his soul, and give it to Rumi right before he died.
