"His eyes, blue as the clearest waters, always held some sort of hesitancy even in his open flirting- with her and everyone around him. She doesn’t consider herself any more special than the other Humans, and it did sting a little when she realized he’s like that with everyone. Every single time she felt like maybe, just maybe, he’s a little different with her; she sees someone else gazing at him the same way she does.
She’s made her peace with this reality a few weeks in. They flirt, they banter, and sometimes a glance or two lingers just a bit longer than it should. Then he hands her another bowl of soup, she thanks him, and that’s it. That’s all there is.
There’s no reason for her heart to jolt with electricity every time they accidentally touch, no reason for her breath to hitch when he looks at her. She has no reason to feel any of this.

They rarely spoke aside from official mining business and even that could be considered a stretch. She would approach with his letter, and he, the man of few words, would end up doing all of the talking. She would nod gratefully and then take her leave. Por otro lado, Palia toma lugar en un mundo post apocalíptico tan, tan, pero TAN, alejado de la humanidad, que una especie humanoide completamente nueva lleva ahora la batuta, y la tecnología que dejamos atrás es indistinguible de la magia; entre las cosas que la civilización humana dejo atrás están los Galdur, como Einar, golems vivientes con miles de años, maquinas inteligentes.
En Palia se esta dando un fenómeno que hace que humanos del pasado remoto aparezcan de la nada en su presente, sin memoria de donde vinieron o que ocurre.

She shrugs her shoulders.

Her ocean eyes seek the other man sitting quietly in his chair at the other end of the table. His hands lay folded neatly on the table but his index finger taps against the wood. Their gaze meets, hesitancy swirling in his light grey orbs. She nods softly, urging him wordlessly to go along.
“Your parents have been friends with Lady Sifuu Kuza for a very long time. So have I. She is a strong ally in this. I-” Ashura stops, contemplating his next words. “I have taken the agency of contacting her in hopes she would agree to a marriage between you, my Lady, and her son, Lord Hassian.”
Her whole body tenses. She forces herself to take a deep breath, trying desperately to swallow the nausea filling her belly. If only she could hide that mind-numbing fear behind the overplayed interest she displays on the surface. Her face feels like stone, heavy and unmoving.
“So be it then,” she says, abruptly ending her trail of thought. “I will marry Hassian Kuza and become his wife.”

You take note how his arms tense before bringing them down in a powerful swing, a rhythmic motion he repeats over and over as he carves the ore from its resting spot in the Earth. You find it not too dissimilar from a sculptor chiseling one's vision from the marble slab before them. His eyes were heavy and focused on the mass of stone he was chipping away at and clearly he had been at it for quite awhile by this time if the sweat that’s beaded along his forehead and down his temple is any indication.
