Summary
“He shall be ready to attend on you when you will during his stay, and shall take your instructions in all matters.” -Mr. Peter Hawkins, Exeter
In this, Jonathan Harker’s employer had been more insightful than he’d known. The young solicitor merely needed a reminder of his nature after an ill-advised escape from Count Dracula’s castle.

Summary
“‘Fool!’ the Count raged, his eyes searing through the silver moonlight. Jonathan could not bear to look upon him in such a state. He cringed into the snowbank like a frightened fawn and waited for death.
‘Did I not expressly warn you against sleeping outside of your chambers?’ he seethed. ‘Did I not protect you once this night, only for you to spurn me and seek death’s bosom yet again?’
Jonathan pressed his numb face into the snow as the Count’s breath roiled the air above him. Oh, let it be quick, as quick and merciful as such a thing could be. Let it be better than the wolves would have been.”
Jonathan Harker invites catastrophe by falling asleep in the west wing and provoking the appetites of three voracious brides. When he does himself no favors by fleeing into the snow-blanketed night, rescue comes from a savior both savage and sweet. As his terror begins to thaw, Jonathan must decide whether to trust the fierce protector his vampiric host has become, challenging his understanding of danger and desire.

Summary
“It was meant to be for Mina, and that was the vilest lie imaginable. Preparation so that he might service his wife as she expected and deserved through the marital act. The Count had compelled him to disclose his inexperience; it hadn’t occurred to him then to lie.”
Jonathan Harker’s host has a most inspired proposal as recompense for all the knowledge the solicitor has bestowed upon him. One does not simply say no to the Count—or to his three brides.
