Summary
Clay Jensen experienced dramatic changes in his life before. The earliest, most significant shift was when at the age of seven he became a brother.
It didn’t happen the common way that included nine months of pregnancy and preparation. Instead, Justin’s arrival pretty much happened overnight. And Clay’s brother didn’t arrive as a baby, but a five year old boy, insecure and sullen and miserable.
But in a way it was a process, too. And it took even longer than the usual nine months of pregnancy — between Justin’s first day in their home and the day he finally became an official family member, a year and a half passed. A year and a half that affected the whole family’s lives and future.
When his cell phone rings on a quiet Friday night in early January, roughly twenty-five years later, Clay has no idea that it’s going to be the start of a whole lot of new changes — life altering changes for each member of his family.
He just answers the phone.
