“I get that you're difficult by nature,” Akuna says, sliding down the wall to sit on the floor of Cal's cell next to him like they're not interrogator and prisoner, but just casual acquaintances hanging out. He cracks open his own bottle of water and takes a sip, then continues, “or Lank wouldn't be losing more of his hair trying to break you. But when I tell you to drink, you gotta drink, Kestis.”
Cal snorts. “What,” he croaks, “I have to get better so you can be the one to break me instead?”
Akuna pauses for a moment, then shrugs and nods. “Pretty much.”

Cal’s been stuck in ISB custody for a while now and he refuses to give them any information on Cere's location. Agent Akuna’s been tasked with fixing that.

Summary
Cal made one mistake during a mission to steal data from one of the Imperial cruisers – an ambitious plan, very ambitious, but not impossible – and paid for it by ending up in detention and under strict supervision, first on the ship they tried to rob, and then transferred to another facility. He didn't know exactly where he was, but he noticed a change in the personnel and their attitude.
After some time he was visited by a strange woman who unfortunately made him an offer he couldn't refuse.

i want to write Cal Kestis stuff with him being comforted and loved but. angst is always fun. who doesn't love a bit of hurt/no comfort. i think this will just be vaguely linked one-shots since im getting back into writing for the first time in a while. ...also Kata Akuna stuff because the more i think the more i want to write about her but she'll come secondary to Cal lol
started writing ideas for this prior to finishing Jedi Survivor which was a mistake. lol. there is so much more angst to be had once i'd finished it. also spoilers for Fallen Order and Survivor if that wasn't clear.

“Give Papa a moment,” he mumbled as he held her close, hand on her head as he pressed his own against it. He closed his eyes, taking a deep breath.
He was a bad man, he knew that. He had traded everything to work for the Empire. To work for the people who destroyed the Order, who killed his wife. But they would keep Kata safe. That was all that mattered. He didn’t care about his own wellbeing so long as hers would be safe. As long as she was safe he could keep going on those Force-awful missions of killing what remained of his people.
