A passing thought traveled in his mind as Kinich looked down on the solid ground that awaited below the cliff he was standing on.
'Maybe the reason why canyons look so beautiful from the top is because one can fall to the depths of it and meet the ground, with gravity crushing all emotions and numbness all at once in a second.'
The stars had all left but the moon stayed, its light shining down on the dull eyes of a child who had seen far too much and far too little, listening to the echoes of a little heart that persisted in beating even though it had been repeatedly beaten down by a demon who masqueraded as his father.

When Kinich is laying on his bed, and sleep evades him, the tears come. The sobs shake his body until his throat aches. Unprompted and directionless.
He tries not to think about it too hard. It’s simply the price of living this quiet life, the cost of being safe.
And if he is known for taking dangerous commissions, it’s simply because they pay well. He can take on any danger, like a hero. And if he dies doing it, no one will weep. The price is right.
