Rook, Delsaran, was lost to the fade and believed to be dead. Harding was lost to the blight, and Neve was captured. Nothing went according to plan and seemed to get even worse until they found Rook in that rift, tearing him from his prison. He could barely come to terms with the knowledge that Verric had been dead and gone for some time.
Wracked with anger and frustration, Rook's mind refused to release him, refused to absolve him of guilt, and kept him captive. Taash wanted their friend back but didn't have a clue how to do it, how to help him overcome this darkness.

If her friends were asked to hedge their bets on which member of the Veilguard Taash would hook up with, Lace Harding would be the easy choice. She was Taash's type. Sweet and cute, with a bubbly personality and an easygoing nature that had her getting along with anybody. And Taash did like her, quite a bit actually. She loved the good humored stories, and easy support that Harding so carelessly shared with everyone. Just catching Harding's grin was enough to cause butterflies to spread in her stomach and warmth to bloom in her chest. It was an obvious, and likely even a reciprocated crush. The problem was that Rook was there. Whatever she felt for Rook wasn't a crush. But it also wasn't not a crush. When Taash went after men they had to be exceptional, and Rook was certainly that, but the thing was, he was also kind of pathetic.
