The silence in the apartment was broken only by the ticking of the kitchen clock. For Liam Dunbar, that sound had become the heartbeat of a normality that had always felt fragile, borrowed. Since Theo Raeken had moved in with him—a miracle in itself—those silences were no longer awkward, but comfortable. They were shared.
Theo was on the sofa, staring at his laptop screen, one eyebrow slightly arched in that expression Liam had learned to decipher: he was analyzing, dissecting something. Liam watched how the screen's light illuminated his sharp features, remembering the times those same hands, capable of terrible violence, would caress his face with a tenderness that left him breathless.
"Researching strange creature cases again?" Liam asked, leaning against the living room doorframe. "I thought we agreed your obsession with being the Sherlock Holmes of the supernatural was a bit... unhealthy."
Theo didn't smile. Instead, he exhaled deeply and closed the laptop.
"Liam,we need to talk."

It's been months since the hospital where Liam last saw Theo after they beat the hunters. Scott and the rest of the pack have all gone off to life beyond Beacon Hills leaving Liam in charge of the puppy pack and the town. But when strange bodies begin popping up and orders come in to cordon off Beacon Hills Liam begins to realize that he may be out of his depth. With people sent down from D.C. lurking around the edges of the pack with a haunting omnipresence that he just can't shake; Liam is left to figure things out before it's too late.

Theo has gone through Beacon Hills more than one person should. Being a good person is more tedious than he anticipated, but the final time he tries to leave, Liam's good word forces him to stay. He can put up with it, everyone hating him and living like a homeless person. Liam is at least in his corner, he owes it to Liam to try.
Theo realized he might care about Liam more than that, but all the mistakes he's made are now stabs to his chest. Each is a reason he just can't be this way.
Mason and Corey aren't welcoming, but Theo lets it be, each person tears him down besides Scott and Liam. Theo and Liam share Liam's house sometimes becoming friends. He hadn't expected it, and neither did the pack.
With all his loose ends from the Dread Doctors, he's managing more than a teenager should.
Theo's feelings are coming back as he tries to be better, but his ghosts come back to haunt him. Maintaining the newfound good in his life will be more strenuous as Theo tries to handle it all.
First chapter is a prologue, so it doesn't have a lot to it.Series

He was starting to think that there was nothing they couldn't survive, nothing they couldn't conquer and overcome. Summary
Theo could not remember exactly what his first crime had been. Maybe it had been the death of his sister, hit-and-run with maybe even murder, he wasn't really sure. Those years for him had been so full of traumatising events that whatever horrible things he saw or that other people considered horrible he considered normal and even thought they got off lightly. Or maybe it had been when he had first stolen a Kinder Egg from a small grocery shop at the age of four just because his parents, too healthy and too Mormon, didn't want to buy him a stupid chocolate Egg.
With the Dread Doctors everything was allowed, stealing, setting fires, vandalism, murder and even tax evasion. So for Theo it was no big deal to survive in that world with the skills he had and the cunning and mischief of his words to get everything he wanted.
Only for Liam this was definitely a problem. The first crime Liam witnessed of Theo was when he tried to kill Scott without succeeding, he could be charged with ''attempted murder'' but to tell the truth he hadn't seen it with his own eyes, so the first time he saw Theo break the rules was on a Friday night.
