Maude is tormented by Maube, a doll that refuses to leave her alone after being dug up and released from it's cage (a treasure chest).

Maube.
The very existence of this forbidden, inexplicable thing grieved her. It taunted her in her mind’s eye as she reluctantly closed her eyes to ‘catch up on sleep’. Pshhh. The Dread Captain didn’t sleep. She didn’t need it. But there it was in the corner. Its smile seared through her brain like an iron prong, burning its careless and utterly absurd smile, strange and ‘wacky’ movements… undignified, inelegant, disgraceful.
Disgraceful that such a scandalous recreation of her image- Calm, calm. She exhaled slowly. It was unlike her. She was the sole example of maturity, responsibility, and duty on this Isla.
Aside from Davey, of course. Nothing could compare to Davey.
