Summary
Freedom was certainly as sweet as what Macaque thought it would be. He could finally bathe in the warm sun again, feast on the sweet juices of fresh fruits without a care in the world. But he does not. Because despite having the choice of doing whatever he wants now, he is not quite sure what exactly he even wants to do. Freedom is bliss, but he is not used to being the only one to decide what he wants to do with it.
Although they had failed their mission before, they were not going to fail it again. They had a job to do, and that was to obtain the key and free their lady. They had promised her that they would get it, and they were not going to back out on that now. They could not. They lived to serve and to serve they shall. This is their destiny, and they are going to do whatever is necessary to fulfil it.
Aka, this is what Macaque and Chief/Mayor has been up to after the Quest for the Skeleton Key and before the LMK series! So to everyone who has been waiting, I hope you have found this and enjoy! If you haven’t read the first part of this series (The Quest For The Skeleton Key) then please go read it! There’s quite a few references to that fic so it will just help you in the long run.
