Summary
With the decision weighing heavily on his shoulders, Ethan makes a crucial choice to team up with the lord to take down Miranda for the sole purpose of getting his daughter back. He makes it crystal clear, Heisenberg tries using his daughter once in this battle, and he, too will be dead alongside his mother. It is then, there, and after that, he realizes his choice could have caused a rift in what he thought he truly wanted. With only his daughter's safety of importance, his further mental state judging him at every turn, and his choices continuing to bite him at every twist and turn, he wonders if his choice to team up with Heisenberg will cause a much bigger problem and unleash a devastating after-effect.

"Heisenberg?!" Ethan lowers his gun, feeling suddenly, horribly tired. "What the hell are you doing here?"
"Nice to see you too, Ethan." Ethan's first name practically drips out of Heisenberg's mouth. He's been using a dinner plate as an ashtray, Ethan notices—the kind of minor detail the mind focuses on in moments of extreme stress (god, he's probably lucky the bastard bothered to find himself an ashtray at all).
But Heisenberg's still talking: "Dropped by, you weren't home, so I let myself in. Wouldn't want me loitering around your porch, bringing down the neighbourhood, would you?"
Ethan grits his teeth. He'd actually forgotten just how annoying Heisenberg could be. "Which still doesn't explain what the hell you're doing here."

Beginning of the fic is set a bit before the actual start of Village, with Mia being held captive by Miranda.Miranda shapeshifts into Mia and things go south. Ethan is murdered by Miranda in the military truck right after the dinner scene in the game. Mia will be the main focus and eventually forms alliances with "foes" to get her child back from the maniacal priestess of the village.

Karl Heisenberg hadn’t been free since he was seventeen, wind in his hair, running through fields with his long-forgotten friends. Now, he is trapped, Miranda’s influence slowly killing him. He would stay that way until the bitch found Rosemary. And where Rosemary went, Ethan followed.
Celosia Guțu hadn’t ever known freedom, shackles on since her birth, her Father made sure of that. She’ll find freedom; even after the bullshit ‘Mother’ had pulled, even after all the death and destruction and anger and grief.
Mia Peterson, nee Winters, hadn’t been free for a long, long time. It started with her joining The Connections, and hasn’t ended. She’s stuck, trapped in an endless loop between grief, sorrow, and rage. Maybe, she’ll find redemption, somehow.
