Summary
Now finally at the comfort portion of the series. Or at least it's supposed to be, these three bastards keep giving me angst.
-When Izzy’s eyes open, he isn’t alone after all. Edward and Bonnet are both there, looking down at him. They’re talking sadly about something, and both look like they’ve been crying. Izzy hates that. But it’s nice, to have someone there too.
He tries to say something, a distorted incoherent noise is all that comes.
Hands are on his face. “You’re awake! How are you feeling? Did you sleep well?” Bonnet croons, adjusting pillows and other frivolities. He can’t really answer, so he just looks from one face to the other.
Izzy reaches out an arm, hating how feeble his movements feel, and touches a leftover tear on Edwards cheek, between the soft brown eyes and the returning beard.
It’s strange, not waking up alone. Selfishly, he’s glad they’re there. He remembers the last time he was captured, waking up in his empty cabin to tend to his own wounds. Had Edward cried for him then too?
