Going through a bond break was tough but going through one and not mating immediately was almost torture. Civil propriety demanded that on every other day of the year scents were masked using a tincture prepared by Camelot's skilled apothecaries. During Beltane, however, the unmated could dance together, and test each other's scents for compatibility. The fertility ritual welcomed the coupling of those whose scents called to each other and if those individuals chose to leave their fun with the coming of the new dawn, a different tincture could ensure no lasting proof of that fun. For others, however, Beltane was revered for its bringing together of newly-mated pairs.
