Summary
"Wait, so let me get this straight," Zoey started. "You're the last daughter of the Kang Dynasty, the family that had once ruled this valley? And you're a vampire?"
Mira, thoroughly amused at how she had caused the two women across her to short-circuit, replied, "Yeah, that's exactly right. I was around 8 when my family all died."
Rumi did some calculations in her head, eyes going wider than she thought possible. "So that means you're 728 years old, give or take," she stated.
Mira only nodded in reply, fighting to hold back the laughter.
Zoey's hand slid under the table and slowly rose, holding a wooden cross about eight inches tall, eyes still staring off into the distance. Rumi's gaze broke contact with Mira's and looked down. She swatted at the shorter girl's hand. "Zoey, there's no need for that!" she exclaimed. "If Mira really was a threat, you'd already have two marks on your neck. Besides, have you even been to church more than five times in your life? Since when do you carry a pocket cross?"
or, Mira is a vampire, who has just moved (back) to the town Zoey and Rumi grew up in. Spookiness ensues. Maybe love, even.

Celine had hoped that Rumi wouldn’t choose the Honmoon. She had hoped that the other hunters would be easy to find and easy to take in. She had hoped she could keep Rumi hidden.
Unfortunately for Celine, the Honmoon was out to bash those hopes into the ground

Summary
“It really did start off as us wanting to troll Dispatch,” Rumi insists. “But we figured the more we were seen the more we'd trend which meant more eyes on the group,” She adds sheepishly. “I didn't think it'd go that viral that fast.”
“Of course it would gain that much traction that fucking fast! You were photographed kissing someone in public!" Celine snaps, exasperatedly slamming her now empty glass down on the table. Mira and Rumi both slightly jump. “You're not supposed to be dating anyone! Your fans are your dating partners, why do you think you're called idols?!”
“I never really thought about it that way...” Rumi responds quietly. “But it'll go away, right? People have short attention spans, don't they?”

Summary
Rumi loves the same way her father did.
Quiet and steady. Near without overwhelming.
She even smiles in the same way he did. Especially when Mira gets mean. The two of them having taken over one of the guest rooms as the pregnancy had progressed. Mira's old one if she remembers correctly.
Rumi loves like her father.
Celine doesn't know what to do with that.
Somedays Celine has to remind herself that it isn't Sunwoo in her home. That the short hair and patterns belong to his daughter and not the man who never got to raise her. It only happens in the dark. When shadows are soft and Celine can't see purple.

Summary
It really is worse than she thought. The demon has invaded Miyeong’s mind, corrupted her. Celine can’t stop staring at her friend, at her closest confidant, at her— this is a betrayal of everything they stand for. The demon merely watches with an impassiveness on his face.

Summary
It is prudent, however, for them to talk. Celine has been noticing how distracted Miyeong seems to be lately and she wonders if there might be a romance involved. She's seen her peers act similarly, even though she dreads the very idea of it. "What is the big surprise you wish to tell me about?"
Miyeong takes both of Celine's hands in her own and holds them up to their chest-level. "I may have found my true love."
"True love?" Her heart races and it misses a turn, crashing into the wall with broken brakes. "What do you mean? There's—"
"Oh, but there is! There is, Celine, and I have found it. I have felt it."
There's a certain feeling of wonder and awe in Miyeong's tone, and her body language simply screams of honesty, of relief. Celine isn't sure if her heart has cracked or burst into flames.

Summary
“Look at me.”
Celine wants to, she really does. But she cannot, not right now, not like this.
Even as Rumi approaches her, begging her, “Look at me….” She cries, and Celine tries, but she can’t, she just can’t.
“Why won’t you look at me?!”
Because she was ashamed. Of herself. For letting this happen. Of the fact that even in a moment like this, she couldn’t bring herself to touch Rumi, not with the mark of the demons etched all across her skin….Celine hated herself, she could only hate herself because she couldn't hate Rumi. She could blame her and pity her and feel sorry for her…..but she could never hate Rumi….just like how she could never love her completely.
