She's vaguely aware of Tiffany shouting at her angrily but Jamie doesn't pay any attention to her. The killer steps closer and she snaps out of her shock, "Watch out!"
Jamie lunges just as the killer does the same.

Jamie and her mother never really get along - there's always been some disconnect between the two. Pam Hughes was the epitome of everything perfect, and Jamie could never live up to those high standards, despite her best efforts. So why bother? She always felt so... suffocated at home. Ever since three girls in her parent's year were murdered in 1987 by a masked individual dubbed the Sweet Sixteen Killer, her mom has never been quite the same. She's constantly worried about Jamie's well-being, excessively so, to the point where Jamie feels she can't do anything.
She loves her mom, she really does, but she's so sick of her ever-present fears for her safety. She totally gets why her mother is so distraught over those murders, especially since the killer was never caught, but really, they weren't even that close! Jamie knows that she and her mother share two very different teenage lives with vastly opposing ideas of what is considered fun, but Jamie is really, truly, incredibly frustrated! Of course, Jamie could try asking her mom to lay off a little, but that would be a futile battle. Jamie knows her mom.
