Well, not so much of an accident as a spur of the moment decision, really. As much as that man irritates Remus, he doesn’t want him dead.
And, well. Having Sirius’ attention focused on him was addicting. It’s like they were the only people in the world, and Sirius’ gaze laid his soul bare in ways that it never had the chance to be before. Remus sees every thought, every unspoken word, and he wraps them up and holds onto them tight. He should hate it. He knows that they’re enemies by birth. And yet, he couldn’t seem to get enough of those warm silvery eyes and sharp wit.
In this battle, Remus knows that he’s already lost. But he can’t quite bring himself to be sad about it.

Remus Lupin moves into a city that’s out to kill him, and he somehow finds himself in the unfortunate position of being glued to the very prince who could order his execution with the mere snap of fingers. Regulus Black is dying.
He was alone, isolated from the world, and being dragged down to the icy depths of the inferi-infested lake. He supposed this was his fate, a fate he so rightfully deserved after the countless mistakes he'd made, the relationships he'd ruined and the friends he'd pulled down with him.
And he was okay with that, that he'd die alone and in pain, forgotten by the world because of his misdeeds and the ever-growing collection of karma he'd been building up over the years.
So imagine his surprise when he closes his eyes and welcomes death with open arms, only to wake up in his bed with scars all over his body, an unmarked forearm, and knowledge of a future he'd once lived?
