Summary
Nora sat alone in the kitchen. There was chowder on the stove she was supposed to be making for her supper.
She’d debated changing out of her blouse, but ultimately decided against it, knowing she would want to change before her shift anyway. It was cold work, up in the lighthouse proper, and not suited to her billowing skirt.
Nora sighed, unwilling to commit to a course of action that would put her back in that prison of a lighthouse. Not while it was still light out. It was still dusk. She had time.
Time to just be Nora. Not the lightkeep.
Nora's perspective from when she enters the story. Deep dive into her thoughts and opinions, her day-to-day life, her past.
Lots of stuff you never asked to know about lighthouses, the history of orphanages, and laws surrounding slavery.

Summary
The day had been a lousy one, so far.
After a breakfast of apples, Pete hadn’t had any other food, today. Elliott had decided to misbehave and gotten them both in trouble.
Elliott being conveniently invisible, though, meant that Pete got the blame. So really, Elliott’s misbehaving had gotten just Pete in trouble.
The broken eggs, the wrecked fence, the spooked horse. Pete groaned. The teacher’s petticoat.
He wasn’t even sure what he could do about it, either. Pete had stopped talking to him, but he knew Elliott was still following him. The clumsy creature was obvious, to him. Every confused chicken, every spooked cat or dog spelled trouble.
And news travelled fast, too. Pete was being looked at. Frowned at.
Urchin.
Filthy beggar brat.
Devilspawn.
Jinx.
Pete's Dragon, 1977. Select scenes from the movie (in more-or-less chronological order) that expound on Pete's characterization. TW: Mention of canon-compliant child abuse, forced child slavery, and Pete's a tad traumatized.

Summary
Mister Gogan had a set of rusted chains.
He’d come in from outside, having done Pete’s job of milking the cow, and he set the chains on the table in a bunch. A centipede crawled out from the metal, and Pete knew Missus Gogan would yell something awful the second she saw something so dirty on her kitchen table.
“Jest gonna get’m all cleaned up, that’s all, Petey,” Mister Gogan said casually, and he sat down across from Pete, putting his boots on the table, which Pete knew Missus Gogan would also hate. “Make sure they’re still good ‘n strong.” He wasn’t bringing up the fact that Pete had missed his job. Nothing about how Pete wasn’t pulling his weight, or earning his keep.
Pete kept quiet and didn’t remind him. It was best he said nothing to Mister Gogan, most days. They got on much better, when that was the case.
Pete's Dragon, 1977. Pre-movie look into Pete's life. How he met Elliott. Rated T because the Gogans are canonically awful.

Summary
Pete's Dragon 1977. The cute chowder scene from Nora's POV. In which Nora falls prey to Pete's dimples, and maybe he's charming enough to help her make a difference in his life. TW: mentions child abuse, whipping. Critique adored. Rated K plus because child slavery should not be rated G, people!

Summary
After lickin’ the kid, Pa said to Grover and Willie, he said, “Boys, this ‘ere orphan warn’t raised right t’farmin.’ Now y’all gotta help me learn ‘im right, hear? Makes a body strong. Body ain’t good fer this life, less’n he kin learn proper. An’ ‘e cain’t, without he gits tanned ever little while. Helps t’ keep a body humble. All ‘is fancy eddy-cated ways hain’t taught that. An’ it hain’t right. We don’t want our little orphan puttin’ on airs he’s better’n us. Jest on counta he’s lived inna city an’ had schoolin.’”
“Right, Pa,” Grover and Willie said in unison.Pete's Dragon.(1977) Pre-movie. How a group of terrible people got their very own slave. Orphan. Whatever. In which Pete learns how the other half live. And not the good half. The other other half. And Willie is a blight. And Grover is minorly better. Rated T for child abuse. TW: whipping with a belt, vague allusion to rape. **Written entirely in hillbilly dialect. It doesn't get better.

Summary
"Memories played through his mind so vividly he almost mistook them for reality. These were all he had of their days together, when it was just the two of them. A selfish part of him longed for them again, and he chided himself for it. All that mattered now was that Pete was happy. Elliot turned his eyes to one bright star in particular, knowing that soon he would have to return home. He desperately wished that there was some way he could be nearer to Pete. Alas, such a thing was impossible. A dragon could never dwell among humans. He turned his gaze away from the heavens, trying his hardest not to cry."
