He hadn’t even spent two weeks back in Brooklyn before he got the text; not from Sam, no, from Sarah, which made this whole situation all the more hilarious.
“Hey Bucky, I really hate to ask you for yet another favor after all you’ve done for my family, but my stubborn jackass of a brother got himself real sick with a bad cold somehow and I just don’t have the time to take care of both him and the boys. Would you mind maybe coming back down here to stay and watch over him for a bit? I think you’re the only other person he’d let see him like this.”
He smirked to himself as he saw Sarah’s text; it was timestamped at 6:47 AM, probably sent out of exasperation while trying to get the boys ready for school and also having to deal with taking care of Sam. The thought of Sam Wilson, the famous Falcon and now the brand new Captain America, lying helpless and miserable in bed was admittedly a little funny. He was probably wrapped up in a bunch of blankets right now with a bulky ice bag sitting atop his head and a thermometer sticking out of his mouth. It really was comical when he thought about it.
“No worries, Sarah. I can come help out.”

– Poza tym – Sarah odzywa się z psotnym błyskiem w oku i rękoma opartymi na biodrach – oglądanie go przy pracy to sama przyjemność, co nie, braciszku?
Sam uśmiecha się niewyraźnie, a potem odwraca wzrok. Rzecz w tym, że Sarah ma rację. Bucky przy pracy jest absorbującym widokiem – te stalowe mięśnie są nie mniejszym dziełem sztuki niż metalowa ręka – tylko że Sam, z wątpliwym skutkiem, stara się wyprzeć to ze świadomości.
Myślał, że ma to pod kontrolą, że zakopał ten temat głęboko na dnie świadomości, ale zainteresowanie Sarah Buckym i tak go uwiera. Zagryza zęby, dźwiga pełne ryb wiadro i mówi sobie twardo, że wcale mu to nie przeszkadza.

Ever since he moved in with Steve and Bucky, Sam has been living on the edge, facing the unexpected at all hours of the day on a regular basis. He has to wrangle in his emotions for the two supersoldiers all while maintaining a cheery expression. The two are considerate of their living situation, most of the time. Sometimes he’ll come home to a bit too much skin showing on the couch that he bought but overall, they manage well. This, though, this is so far out of left field that he has to physically take a step back as he tries to wrap his mind around it.
“What?” Sam’s looking between Steve and Bucky like they both just grew a second head. Honestly, that would be less surprising- and definitely less confusing- than what Steve had just asked him.
“Would you want to join us?”

Shoved haphazardly under the coffee table was a thick book, with a faded blue cover and yellowed papers sticking out. His curiosity getting the best of him, Sam set the mixer down and settled on the couch with the book.
Sam usually wasn’t the type to snoop or pry into other people’s lives, but he and Bucky were close enough that he felt comfortable with a little exploring. They had come a long way since the freeway battle all those years ago, and he knew Bucky (probably) wouldn’t mind his curiosity.
