Summary
In his home country, Damian was familiar with receiving punishments for his actions. He knew what the repercussions were for sloppiness in his hand-to-hand combat, or miscalculations in his arithmetics. He made improvements based on this feedback. He liked knowing exactly what he needed to do.
With Bruce, however, there is nothing to build on. There is retribution, but not any chances for improvement.
It unravels Damian. He can deal with many things, but not this. He can take anger, but this is indifference.
In his first year as Robin, Damian struggles. Not with his training or his academics, but with a hurdle much more formidable: his relationship with the people who are supposed to be his family.

Summary
The last thing Tim remembers was falling. He remembers the sound of his beating heart and the whipping wind, the lights blurring past and remembering the grappling hook in his belt. But most of all he remembers the overwhelming calm that settled in his mind and numbed his insides, the foreign feeling of peace seeping into his bones. He completed his mission. For Bruce.
He shouldn't have survived a fall from that height, but judging from the unfamiliar location he's woken up to and the bandages currently covering his skin he must've had a little help. Tim is so not looking forward to another lecture.
Or
What if Dick wasn't there to catch Tim from falling but Jason was.

Summary
As it is, the red helmet steals her attention and Stephanie's head goes into panic overdrive, a litany of fuckfuckfuck she hopes doesn’t show through. I thought I’d managed to avoid this shitstorm.
“Todd,” Damian grits out.
“Aw,” Red Hood answers, mockery all over his voice. It was the helmet, Stephanie realizes, that gave his voice that metallic hue. “You do remember me.”
Damian tenses up even further by her side, wound so tight she can tell despite the cape. And Stephanie hadn’t been there at the time, but she’d seen the reports.
Or; after the Battle for the Cowl, Jason Todd schedules a job interview for the only Wonder Boy he didn't try to sweet talk into the murder Robin position. For once, Steph would have preferred to be excluded.

Summary
(The stage is set sparsely, nebulously urban-gothic and definitely too-large for the number of actors needed for this scene. Two brothers are blocked for a confrontation; one is facing slightly downstage in disinterested acknowledgement of the audience. The other faces only his brother. The Red Hood is in his late teens or early twenties, but must be played by an older actor to avoid granting him any undue sympathy from the audience. It does not matter who plays The Batman; Jason cannot see his brother for the cowl.)
THE BATMAN
You tried to kill him. You tried to kill my baby brother.
THE RED HOOD
I tried to kill your Robin.

Summary
He wasn't Bruce’s son. That was Damian— that was Dick, and even Jason.
But not Tim.
He was just a placeholder.
Just someone keeping the seat warm before someone else claimed it. Before it got too cold.
A stand-in.
A replacement.
A nobody.
He might have a room and his things in the Manor, a suit to put on in the BatCave— but he didn't have a place in the family. Not really.
After the event of Batman and Robin #1 (2009) and Red Robin #1 (2009), Tim was left hurt by Dick’s decision to appoint Damian as his Robin. He was even more hurt when his brother didn't believe that Bruce was still alive, causing their relationship to fracture and making him doubt his place in the family.
Now that Bruce returned, all Tim wanted was his brother back.

Summary
“You hurt Robin,” Batman hissed, and vitriol was a charged bullet that was aimed straight at him. “That kid wasn't at fault and you nearly killed him.”
I wanted to rip the fucking mantle off your hands, was what he nearly answered in turn, except the shrill noise of a machine starting cut his own building anger completely.
There was a man standing behind the alien rifle.
There was—fuck, Jason thought.
or: the first thing that came in jason's guide to being a superhero was to not get trapped together with the man that used to be his brother. oh, and also the same man who had coincidentally taken up his dead father's mantle.
(but it happened anyway, because nothing in his life ever went right.)

Summary
“Someone is dead,” she starts.
She can see he wants to interrupt, probably with some joke about how you can’t throw a rock without hitting a corpse in this city. She doesn’t know how to tell him his jokes are bad, so she pushes forward.
“He’s a man I thought I knew well. A man I thought knew me. Who understood what I wanted — who I was trying to be. He was the only one to know me in that way. But now… now he’s gone. And his final words—”
The stranger jolts. His attention is entirely hers.
“They make me wonder if he ever knew me at all. If…”
“… if you’d only fooled yourself into imagining something that wasn’t there.”
Battle for the Cowl Epilogue: Jason + Cass talk about Bruce’s will + their identity issues + don’t deal well with either.

Summary
“Maybe it just wasn’t a good fit. I hear that happens sometimes. Maybe you and the new one will gel better,” Bruce offers.
“Sure, I’m sure I’ll gel with an art therapist.”
Bruce is scoffing before he knows it. “Art therapist? She wants you to fingerpaint?”
Tim snorts a laugh. “I guess. Maybe she’ll see something in the doodles.”
“Maybe.”-or-

Summary
"Not enough I had to deal with Jason trying to steal the cowl and Alfred being all ‘You need to sleep more Master Dick‘, ‘You need to eat more Master Dick,’ like I know that! I just don’t have time.”
At that, Tim starts suddenly feeling conflicted. But then Dick says, “I really needed you Tim. I thought I would be able to count on having your help.” and all of Tim’s sudden goodwill goes flying out the proverbial window.
“Well gosh Dick,” he hisses, each word rising up from deep within him to spill past his lips like white hot rage. “If only you’d allowed me to stay by your side instead of leaving me to flounder around nameless, then maybe I could have been there for you.”
And Dick is quiet for a second, just one single second.
“Has it ever occurred to you,” Dick says, tone mild and bland in a way that Tim can tell is one hundred percent forced. “That the decision to give Robin to Damian had absolutely nothing to do with you?”

“Look, this was very nice and intimidating, but I’m not interested in playing house with Lex," he says firmly, agitated that apparently, he's still a chew toy being tugged between two grown men with their own issues.
“No one’s asking you to," Lena shrugs. "But what my brother does want you to do is to attend the birthday celebration he’s planning for you. You’re turning 20. It’s a big deal.” From her purse next to her, she produces a golden envelope. "The party's in a few weeks at the Capitale downtown. Invite whoever you want. All you have to do is show up. Bring your beau. It’ll be fun."-or-

Summary
Jason had to give it to him, it was a pretty good imitation, someone who didn’t know Dick or Bruce would be fooled. He clearly had lifts in his boots to make up the height difference and there was extra padding in the suit to hide his gymnasts build and essentially erase what made Dick, Dick. He knew that given enough time, Dick would make sure the extra padding wasn’t needed and would do the work to change his build to fit the suit and not the other way around. And Jason, Jason hated him for it. Hated that he was willing to give up an integral part of himself, the part of himself he’d clung to even after losing his parents, making sure he never lost the skills he’d been born into and the physique it took to do what he did.

Summary
This was a bad idea, but so was dressing up as a bat to fight crime, and that had saved a lot of lives. That was what Dick was doing, too: saving lives. Even if by 'lives' he meant multidimensional lives, and by multidimensional lives he meant, really, one Jason Peter Todd.
Dick gets his hands on a dimensional transporter, which means there's only one thing to do: save as many versions of his little brother as possible.

Summary
“Of course. They’ll be returned after we contact Booster Gold and Dr. Fate. Between you and the Lanterns’ reports, it’s clear something’s going on.” Clark sighs and rubs at his face. “You’ve done good work, Tim. We’ll take it from here.”
We’ll take it from here.
Tim fights the urge to scream.
“I’ll want to see him,” he says edgily (and he kicks himself for it. He has to be better than that. Smarter.) “When you bring him back, I mean. I’ll want to see him.” And he keeps his voice milder this time. Less demanding.
“Well, Tim, we still don’t know what we’re gonna find,” Clark says, and Tim fights the urge to lunge at him.
It wouldn’t get him anywhere.-or-
