Summary
In S9E6: Heaven Can't Wait, Dean doesn't drop Castiel off at the Gas-n-Sip until the next morning, after the case with the Angel of Mercy, Ephraim. Since Castiel is human, he has to sleep, and so does Dean. So, where do they go during this unexplained amount of time? What were they doing that night, and where did they stay?
This is my version of the events of that night. Explicit content lies within!

Summary
"Listen," he said, and to feel the vibrations of his voice so intimately, to be encased and surrounded and subsumed by Dean, what Cas had spent so many long years craving, was a balm, even as Cas’s throat constricted and his eyes remained stubbornly wet.
"I've got an idea, yeah? A way to stay with you, keep you warm, keep you fed, and a way to let me go back to Sammy too. Everyone's happy."
A moment of warmth, in the cold of Cas's human life.

Summary
Ian feels it break off inside his chest - whatever scenario he’d been expecting. The answer he was waiting to hear. It rises through his body and drifts away.
Of all his theories, the undead wasn’t one of them.
But maybe he should have known. He should have known that it would have to be something this fucking insane—something goddamn supernatural—to change Mickey towards him now.

Summary
There's some crap about the first cut being the deepest. Dean's heard that somewhere; definitely not from a Sheryl Crow song, fuck off, Sammy- (he digs the Rod Stewart version, even if the dude is sappy).
But Dean's more into the Bryan Adams song, because it does cut like a knife. And to know where to make a cut, first you have to know it hurts. And yeah, it's probably gonna hurt like hell. What's already within someone will cause that cut to REALLY hurt.
And then, there's the knife...

Summary
“I have been thinking about you so much lately and where our friendship is now. You seriously didn’t think I would be mad or resentful after everything that happened in the Men of Letters bunker? That I would be grateful to see if you would take a case here in Idaho? I hadn't planned to see you anyway! Dean, I’m—”
“I’m working on it...” Dean sighed down towards his shoes this time.
“And, of course, I can’t help because if you’re not a Winchester or demon or King of Hell, you’re pretty much defunct.”
“You’re not defunct, Cass.”
“No, I'm healing," came out in that authoritative voice once more. [...] "And I’m not just recovering from being stripped of my grace. I’m healing from what this friendship has turned into [...] "I’m healing from everything you have ever put in my head; I’m healing from everything I have ever felt around and because of you. I’m done with this, Dean. If any other case comes up around here, I will call you and Sam. I know your number by heart [...] But this is me setting boundaries."

Summary
After Dean leaves him at the Gas N' Sip in Rexford, Castiel realises that he needs to get back in the game. However, that's easier said than done, and instead he finds himself working in a Target-style superstore in Boulder as he tries to figure out his new human life. He makes friends, starts hunting, even has a couple of hook-ups, but when Dean unexpectedly returns, Castiel has to re-evaluate where Dean fits in to this new life he has built for himself, and what it is they need from each other.
And while Castiel may have had his grace stripped from him, he still possesses certain angelic sensibilities that may be the key to fixing some of the damage Metatron has wrought. With some creativity, teamwork, and a dash of hope, maybe he can discover just how much he's really capable of.
(An alternate season 9 from Cas' POV.)

Summary
In the wake of everything that went down with the Rit Zien in 9.06, what if Cas forgot his Gas'N'Sip vest in the backseat of the Impala where Dean had tossed it while helping Cas spruce up for his date?
What if Sam found the vest later and got the wrong impression about who the vest belonged to and what it was doing there?
What if the truth (and Dean) came out much later?

Summary
“It’s not your problem any more.”
Dean’s parting words still echoed in Cas’s head. Had for days now, like an insect bite that, no matter how hard you scratched, would go on itching, and it made him bitchy. -

Summary
Set in a version of Season 9 where Castiel is still human and working at a movie theater. Dean comes to see him once a week. Vacations! Trips to Costco! Confusion over whether they’re dating or not by Castiel’s coworkers! A reality where Dean Winchester might try and read relationship books and wouldn’t we all be better for it.

Summary
He used to feel a sense of loyalty and obligation towards this vessel, a desire to do better that flared up each time he saw the mirrored reflection of Jimmy Novak’s face. But now, he thinks with a stab of clarity, those feelings are unnecessary. There’s nothing to be loyal to anymore; there’s just him.
“This is good,” Cas whispers to his hands, testing the words against the cold ache in his chest. “This is good."
* * *
Cas tries using positive affirmations to trick himself into feeling happy and comfortable as a human. And, well—maybe he throws a little bit of praise Dean’s way, too.

Summary
He can’t bear it now, the pity in Dean’s voice, the wasted sympathy, the kind platitudes, a few hundred dollars pressed into his hands before Dean inevitably leaves again. His hand is on the doorknob when strong arms wrap themselves around his middle and haul him back.
“Please don’t go,” Dean whispers into his hair.

Summary
Season 9 AU. Still relatively new to humanity, Castiel struggles with both Dean’s confusing behaviour and the loss of his angelic faculties. When a pissed-off witch restores his ability to see the supernatural, the curse seems like a blessing. He can help his friends again – and when Dean’s lies blow up in his face and Sam is once again left hovering between life and death, Cas is happy to be useful. But his abilities keep getting stronger, and they might just be more than a human brain can handle.
