It’s all so......mundane. It feels normal. It feels like it should be like this, like they’ve earned this little scottish getaway for everything they’ve been through over the past two years. It’s easy enough to subtract out the fact that they’d barely escaped with their lives from the physical embodiment of cosmic isolation, and the fact that they were probably wanted men, and the fact that they’d barely said three words to each other the whole way up here. It’s been so painfully quiet. It’s not that they have nothing to say to each other; it’s just that there’s too much, and Jon has no idea when and how to even bring it up.
It's just Jon, Martin, and everything that they can't talk about.

Martin had long since accepted that he would never be anyone’s first choice. That was just how it was. The fact that John cared enough about him to do all of that, to save him and want him here at his side; it was more than he ever could have hoped. So what if he didn’t love him back? So what if John would never feel the same way for him as Martin did for John? He was used to pining, he was never meant to have anything requited. He’d perfected romanticizing a life of longing for a reason.
