Summary
Gi-hun paid what he owed and now keeps his place running. He’s patching things up with his mother one visit at a time, waiting for his daughter’s calls that come more often these days. And there’s Jun-ho, younger and steadier than he has any right to be, still turning up at the end of every day like he belongs there, easy as breathing.
The problem is Jun-ho’s brother: scrubbed to nothing, blockers on, even off duty, looking a little more hollow each time. Whenever Gi-hun’s scent spikes, he looks for windows or exits, like looseness doesn’t fit the rules he lives by.
Gi-hun isn’t a fool, and he knows not every scent matches. But this is different. It feels personal, and it pisses him off every time. Whatever’s wrong with Hwang In-ho, he keeps making it Gi-hun’s problem.

Seong Gihun is in a weird place. He finds out that everyone is alive and never experienced the Games. He assumes this is the afterlife and realizes perhaps he can finally heal.
Then he meets Hwang Inho.
Problem #1: Inho's existence means this place isn't heaven. It’s real.
Problem #2: Everyone finds this Inho endearing. Even the stray cats.
Problem #3: Their friends think Inho is in love and Gihun is being stubborn, so they try to get them together. Which definitely isn’t helping.-------
Gihun is in a world where everybody lives but he believes the Inho here is still manipulative. So, he makes it a personal mission to be nice to everybody...

The Frontman isn't surprised by Gi-hun's trauma. He knows firsthand what that island can do, how it breaks someone's spirit. He can only imagine how much worse it feels being back a second time. Nevertheless, the erratic, skittish behavior that Gi-hun starts to display during the games intrigues him. Worries him, even.
It doesn't take him long to realize that Gi-hun has not one, but two familiar faces among the other players. An old friend, but also an ex, abusive boyfriend.
As Young-il allows In-ho to experience the games and be close to the object of his fascination, he gets to watch Gi-hun unravel before his eyes, initiating a new, exciting, and equally lethal game between the Frontman and the player who wants to destroy him.
