The front door opened with a small creak as Rolan stepped inside, letting out a content sigh as the warm air hit his face. Even if it wasn't quite winter yet, the soon arriving colder season could clearly be felt outside already. He'd never been the biggest fan of heat, but with how his senses were after everything, spending several months in the cold of Chicago winters sounded like a horrible time.

The sounds of fries sizzling blend in with the white noise, the smell permeating the stuffy air as a bell rings. The cook slides a tray of burgers and chips across the counter that Kian quickly scoops up, striding over to his table.
The garish red leather of the booths assault Kian’s vision, and a bead of sweat rolls down the side of his neck, his uniform sticking to his back. The aircon’s busted and the blonde feels like he’s gonna die of heat exhaustion if he has to deal with this any longer.

Or; after bugpocalypse, Rolan, Kian and Rand move across the country to Rolan's apartment, and try to get things back to normal, only problem being that things aren't that easy. Kian doesn't know how the news of what happened at Galloway hasn't hit the mainstream, but he's so focused on keeping himself and his friends safe that he doesn't pay it any mind. Maybe he should.

He opened his eyes. He was leaned up against the passenger side window of his car, he could see the sun rising outside. They were driving through the countryside it looked like, there was plenty of farmland all around them. He looked around the car next. Kian was sitting in the driver’s seat. Kian had survived. That was real, at least.
Rand turned to look in the backseat. Rolan was sitting there, seemingly asleep. He was missing his left arm, and in its place was a terrifying blade-thing. There were also antennae sticking out of Rolan’s head, and there was a quiet clicking that came out of him as he breathed. Rolan was… alive as well.

Rand, Rolan, and Kian all survive the bullshit in Galloway and leave to go to Chicago together

Kian Stone’s hands were on Rolan’s waist, his fingers digging into the belt loops of his pants and pulling him closer. Rolan shifted on the couch, allowing Kian’s weight to settle in his lap and against his body in a very comforting way. Kian was always quite scrawny, and not much had changed in that regard since the last time they did this in high school so his weight felt very familiar, like a blanket.
