The past twelve floors play back in his mind. One, two, three went without a hitch. Four he was hit twice, healed by Cosmo once. Five, they found a bandaid. Six and seven he couldn’t find a machine. Eight had twisted Pebble, two toons died. Nine had twisted Gigi. One toon died. Ten had two passive twisteds. Eleven they lost two more toons to Vee, and Shrimpo was hit again.
He’s on his last heart.

Shrimpo finds himself in an unfamiliar environment, filled to the brim with hostiles and hardly a trace of humanity to be found. He’s soon met with a group of gruff Dwarves, whose rather noisy arrival draws out a bit of a problem.
Meanwhile, the dwarves have been busy. There’s been a severe increase in spacial rifts for unknown reasons, popping up all over Hoxxes. They go on a mission to investigate a detected instability, but find themselves returning with an aggressive teenager instead of information. This does not make Mission Control happy, let alone Management.

"The bloody Rivals weren't screwing around when introducing this abomination to the caves of Hoxxes. Few dwarves have met this horror and lived to tell the tale. Those who make it back alive and still have their wits about them report being lured in by cries for help from their fellow dwarves, only to be ambushed by this monstrosity. It's a near unstoppable beast that seeks to lure in, hunt down and eliminate our workforce, and management advices to flee on sight. If you have no other options, prepare for a fight, bring your most powerful firearms and keep your distance."

Scout was being watched.
He could feel it, as his eyes adjusted to the dimmed lighting, making out the hulking frame of Driller, lurking by the door.
Despite recognizing the shape as friend not foe, he couldn't scratch the way his animal brain itched with a sense of danger, like when a cave leech hung nearby.
“You alright mate?”
Driller stood there, silently, watching him back without a word, unresponsive. Slow breaths, not moving a muscle.
Something was wrong.

However, the drop pod’s beacon has been shut off, and the black box signal has gone dead. Management suspects our rivals may have discovered a way to tamper with our technology. This could be disastrous for our many teams which rely on drop pod beacons for extraction. Find and repair the lost M.U.L.E.’s, investigate the drop pod, and contact me back if you need additional extraction. Oh, and team? Be careful. “You fuckin’ idiot Scout!” Gunner shouted at him, his hands coming up to press against Scout’s bloodied torso. Already he could feel the pain begin to dissipate, leaving only a dull throb in its place.
“Might try and get myself downed more often Gun.” Scout grinned at him, heaving himself off the rough floor. Gunner shook his head and pushed red sugar into his hands. “Wouldn’t mind having you on top of me again.”He himself didn’t even know what spurred him to say that. His cheeks warmed as Gunner stared at him incredulously before huffing a laugh and helping him onto his feet. His whisper against his ear made him shudder.

Months have passed ever since the first contact with the Lithophage plague on Hoxxes and though Deep Rock Galactic has been working tirelessly to control the outbreak, their attempts have unfortunately not been as effective as required. With the corruption rapidly evolving and spreading further into the planet, Management has finally declared a new emergency protocol: Critical Corruption. Before rolling the protocol out for the entire workforce, they have decided to entrust the team of Space Rig 17 with the first new mission type introduced, hoping to find out whether the company is prepared to handle such a threat.
