Summary
“Just needed a moment,” Odysseus murmured into Polites’s skin, his voice so soft that it barely reached the air. The words seemed to hang between them, as if they were fragile things, meant only for Polites to hear.
They were quiet, but they held the weight of all the things Odysseus had never said aloud. There was no bitterness in his tone, no edge of weariness—only the quietest acceptance of his own humanity. “To stop. To breathe.”

Summary
"Tell me something," Odysseus said, his voice a low drawl that barely rose above the crackle of the dying fire. He leaned back against Athena’s thigh with a practiced indifference, his gaze turned outward, scanning the dark landscape with a look of detached boredom. The night around them seemed to stretch endlessly, an inky black sea of quiet that swallowed up any hint of sound beyond the occasional gust of wind that whispered through the trees.
The air was heavy with the scent of salt and damp earth, the quiet hum of the world stretching out before them like a great unknown, vast and uncharted, indifferent to the small figures seated beneath it. "It can be a lie," he added with a faint, humorless smile, as though the truth held no more value for him than a well-told fable, a trinket for the mind that could be discarded at will. The weight of his words seemed to hang in the air between them, a reminder of how little he cared for anything that was real, or could be.
