Summary
Sterling is inspired by competence.
She knows this. It’s something about watching someone be so casually good at something, so naturally in their element, that they don’t even have to think to perform well. Blair would make (and has made) crude jokes about this, and while Sterling does, admittedly, agree with that train of thought in many cases, she honestly does appreciate competence outside of a sexual attraction context.
She is realizing, however, that almost nothing April does could be considered one of those exceptions.
It’s annoying as hell. April does so many things, and she’s good at all of it. It’s not fair.

Summary
The Teenage Bounty Hunters Season 2 that we all deserve. Sterling is returning to school after the events of the lock in and big reveal that followed. She is trying to figure out how she feels about everything that happened and she wants to put it all past her and move on but this tiny voice in her head keeps calling out for the girl that broke her heart. April refuses to let her temporary lapse of judgement that led her to almost coming out for some girl (definitely not just some girl) get in the way of her perfect high school career. She is full steam ahead on maintaining her perfect image and 'perfect' life.

April’s suddenly a lot closer than she remembered. She could trace the curve of her nose without having to move more than a few inches.

The phone rang only once before April’s voice burst through the speaker, loud and frantic. “Sterling!” There was a pause, the sound of April taking a deep breath before her tone softened. “What’s going on? Are you okay?”
Sterling hesitated, her mind racing. She could tell April everything, pour out the truth in a flood of words and tears, but the thought of reliving it all made her throat tighten. Instead, she chose a different path, one that had just formed in the back of her mind, a wild, reckless idea that was the only thing keeping her from falling apart.
“Run away with me.” The words tumbled out before she could stop them, raw and desperate.

Sterling was quiet. It was the first thing Blair noticed about the girl a week ago, when she had first come to live with them. When Daddy had said they needed to talk about something, Blair had been nervous that her parents were going to make her get a job after accidentally totaling the truck a month prior. It wasn’t her fault that Hannah B was in the hospital after a handstand gone wrong! Blair was being considerate by texting to check up on her; a lot of good that did her. Before they told her she was getting a ‘sister’, it was the worst thing she could imagine.
Apparently Sterling’s mom was one feather loose of a flock, and the teenager needed somewhere to stay after the woman got arrested. Because of some distant relation her parents refused to get into, it fell on the Wesleys to take in the discarded girl. To Blair it sounded like bullshit, but when she shared her opinion her parents made it clear that she didn't have any say in the matter.
