After a deal was made with Majima's early ancestors, an omnipotent being gives a task to solve the problems of three versions of themselves before they're able to choose one of those lives to continue as. Unfortunately for Majima, he's the man given the task this time around.
The only problem is: They're all problems Majima has never encountered before and out of his skill set.
To avoid living in empty space for the rest of eternity, Majima will need to learn how to use some other skills besides violence to solve these problems, and maybe learn a few new things about himself along the way.

He remembered it like it was yesterday, when a man with a bat tattoo on his forearm attacked him on the streets of Sotenbori. Tachibana recognized his accent as another fellow Chinese immigrant, but that did not stop him from attacking one of his own. He was brave, he’ll give him that, but he made light work of him. Nobody could beat him in a show of brute force, not even whatever gang that idiot said he was from. Tachibana had a clear view of his rather rugged features when he was mounted on top of him, his eyes pleading and mouth contorting into a groan as he begged for mercy. It was quite satisfying, watching this man and his angry bravado reduced to a cowering mess.
But that was not what excited him the most.
It was his grip around his wrist afterwards, tight and desperate. It was his eyes, one of them swollen from his pummelling, ablaze with hope.
“From now on, will you be the leader of our gang?”
What balls that guy had, relinquishing leadership of his gang to the guy who just kicked his ass.
Tachibana couldn’t help but smile at the thought of him.Or; Tachibana and Oda think about each other in their final moments

He crosses paths with Karasuma Kazue, a hostess who seems to have a pulse on the city's secrets, in order to be able to face against the Omi Alliance and the Tojo Clan. With a shared goal, but conflicting plans, the two of them must figure out how they can survive in what may be the last year of their lives.

Kiryu’s shoes crunched against the wet asphalt of Kamurocho’s busy streets—busy with people. It’s rare that a car passes anywhere near the inner city, let alone where Kiryu walks. Taxis end up costing more than they should for how close they bring one to their destination, thus Kiryu walked in the cold December rain, approaching Tachibana’s penthouse. Kiryu attempted to look into the window—the grand one with a view of the entirety of Kamurocho, hoping to find Tachibana standing there, above him like the moon in the sky.
