Summary
Flowey had been strangely patient with Papyrus during that time. Whether that was due to self-preservation or some form of vicarious empathy, he didn’t know, he was too busy trying to stop the onslaught of knowledge from cracking what little hope he had left of reversing this awful mistake.
Because this situation could only be called that. A mistake. A completely ill thought out idealistic plan that would have only ended worse if both he and Flowey failed to come to a compromise as quickly as they did.

Who would have thought that trying to share a soul with a soulless creature would cause so many problems? Certainly not Papyrus, who is at his wits end with trying to salvage the situation.
