Nona gave Harrow a withering expression that caused Gideon to stifle a chuckle. Without a word, it was as if she was asking, ’are you stupid?'. She held up her hands, wiggling all of her fingers. She was ten when she'd had a seizure. Ten when her mother died, leaving her alone in a nightmare she hadn't woken up from.
Harrow felt a stab of pain in her heart upon seeing that weak glare. It was far too young of a face to pretend to be tough, too innocent of a gaze to have seen that much pain. She blinked against the pressure forming in her eyes, determined not to cry.

Gideon and Harrow stumble upon a loose end from Drearburh — in the form of a child. Camilla and Palamedes realize language development is easier than they expected. Nona loves her small, strange family more than anything.

Summary
His eyelashes were wet with tears, shielding even glossier eyes while droplets rolled down rosy cheeks. The situation was almost overwhelming, the phrase "boys don't cry" had been thrown around almost her entire childhood, until it was engraved in her skull; so this was a surprise. She never thought that she would get to comfort a boy in such a way, in a way that boys would usually do for girls. Taking on what she was taught to be the masculine role overjoyed her to an incredible extent - especially when she was met with success. The boy, 'Winnie', had stopped crying altogether. However, this joy would soon be torn away from her as the rosey hue made it's way back to the blond's cheeks, fiddling with his fingers as he parted his lips to speak:
"You're a really pretty girl..."
She forced a toothy smile, feeling her eyes become wet before speaking herself: "Thank you."

It was Valentine's Day, and he had hardly prepared anything for it.
Augustine always struggled getting him gifts. Every time he thought he did a good job, Winnie somehow managed to take it ten steps further. It was like a competition Winnie probably didn’t even know he was involved in.
