Summary
Jack Hodgins has never really been the same after the Gravedigger. Sometimes he wakes up in the middle of the night, with a cold sweat and a scream on his lips. He's found he's stressed all the time, and can't seem to cope, so when a victim turns up with a potential coping mechanism for him, he gives it a shot.
In my version of the Bones universe, all of the characters venture into exploring age regression to cope with trauma and chronically stressful childhoods. Reminder that age regression is a nonsexual coping mechanism sometimes suggested for individuals who are trans, have OCD, BPD, PTSD, anxiety, autism, etc. It can be a way of dealing with very large emotions while not becoming entirely overwhelmed.

Summary
He dropped his hand from where it was fiddling with his curls at the front of his face, pulling them long then letting go to let them scrunch up again. He liked having long hair, he’d always had, screaming and begging his mom to let him keep it long without ever trimming it but always ending up in the hairdresser’s chair anyway. "I need to get a haircut."

Summary
“I’m trans, Angela.”
Her face visibly softens after his confession, and he looks at the floor to avoid having to make eye contact with her. He tries to remind himself that Angela would never hurt him, that he’s never been anything but safe in her presence, but in the seconds before she formulates a response, he feels his heart nearly burst from his rib cage with the suspense. However, just when he’s about to tell her she’s free to leave if it’s too much, that he’s sorry for leading her on, he’s swept into the warmest, tightest hug he’s ever been a part of.
“Thank you,” Angela says softly as she releases him. He’s slightly dizzy from the emotional whiplash, and doesn’t even have time to question her. “I’m so glad you could share that with me.”
