Her voice surprisingly gentle. I open my mouth to say something, but close it again.
"Magnus, answer me."
Her soft tone makes me want to sob.
"I think you know." I choke out.
"I think so too, but I need you to tell me."
I stare at her. "Why?"
Tears spill down my face. Alex turns. She walks over and closes the door I hadn't realized was still open. She walks back over and puts a gentle hand on my cheek.
"Because, this is serious Maggie."
I slide to the floor, my legs suddenly too shakey to support me. Alex crouches in front of me.
