(Canon rewrite/re-adaptation of Ugin, Nahiri, & Sorin's intertwining storylines with more emphasis on them as characters and their relationships, not necessarily what they specifically did. For the angst! (Sorin & Nahiri's relationship more than anything, but Ugin does become important early on and in later, currently unreleased, chapters.)

Jace Beleren, along with his friends Kytheon, Garruk, and Chandra, have lived in Silmot's Crossing since they were little. Their lives, for the most part, remained mundane until the arrival of a man named Urza and Liliana Vess. They enlist the young mages in a mission to save the world from an invasion thought to only have been prophesied in legend. However, after their home is destroyed, they start a journey to become battlemages capable of defending their world. Though as they travel, certain secrets begin to slip through the cracks. Secrets that may reveal all their lives as falsehoods and expose the true dangers of mind magic.
This is a novel whose main characters are heavily based on MTG planeswalkers because I am so sick and tired of the inability for wizards to plan a coherent and fulfilling narrative. March of the Machines has had TWO years of setup which is nothing compared to the four (Really damn good) years that War of the Spark had. So much wasted potential. So many wasted story threads. This is my attempt to take the good idea in WotC's work and actually execute those ideas in an interesting and emotionally resonant way that juices every plot thread for an appropriate amount of dramatic tension.

This spun out of a joke I made to myself about Coffee Shop AUs, the bungle wotc made of War of the Spark, and Bace Jeleran's "Are You My Mistress" (which is infinitely better than this, go read that if you're old enough).
A lot of this story is based on some real life extrapolation and some stretching of canon, and is *incredibly self indulgent*.
