Nancy woke suddenly, the voice rousing her from her deep and dreamless sleep. The first thing she became aware of was pain, pounding in her head and stretching down her limbs. She groaned and took a few seconds to gather her wits. She realized that she was lying on a cold, hard table. A small speaker sat on the table about a foot away from her; that must have been where the voice came from. “Hello?” Nancy mumbled, her throat dry. As she spoke, she winced as the pain in her head increased, which seemed to be a dull throb radiating from the back of her skull. As she rubbed the sore spot, she wondered why it hurt so bad.
“I’m sorry, I got ahead of myself,” the voice said. It was a male voice, spoken in a calm and quiet tone. “Hi there, you on the table. I wonder if you’d mind taking a brief survey.”

Jonathan never let me leave my headphones, filled with mixtapes of all my favorites, it always held the song I had from before everything happend, the "first song that got me into music", my favorite.
'Should I Stay or Should I go'. A classic, Jonathan had taught me it early on. It's always been the song that had got me through everything, the song I had thought wouldn't let me down if Vecna's claw wrapped around my face and all I could do was beg for them to blast it into my ears and save me.
But something else saved me, something different.

I wrote this after having a stroke of inspiration at one in the morning in, like, May. Thank you for all the love this has gotten!! I’m really proud of it and I love writing El’s character (though there are bits of Mike’s or Will’s perspectives as well because Mike’s is the easiest to write for me and because. Byler). Vecna fades completely from view, along with the rest of the woods and the Upside Down, replaced with nothing but darkness and the echoes of a demon’s voice.
“One way, or another.”
It’s been nearly two years since the last showdown with the Upside Down. Two years since Vecna/Henry/One nearly destroyed the world. They hadn’t won against Vecna, but they hadn’t really lost either. Though eerie ash storms streaked with red lightning often found their way into the weather patterns, they weren’t constant, nor did they seem to be growing worse. The cracks that led down into the upside down hadn’t disappeared, but they hadn’t grown either.
It feels like some sort of stalemate. And all of Hawkins is holding its breath, waiting to see who will strike next.
