Et pourtant, elle vivait alors qu’elle aurait juré avoir été occise.

Instinctively, she put a hand to her belly, where a scar streaked her skin under the folds of the tarnished leather and her chain mail. She was sure of it. Moments ago, perhaps hours, blood was pouring from her wound and a nameless pain throbbed in her abdomen as her strength failed her. And yet she was living when she could have sworn she had been slain. And somehow, she had survived a horrific fall despite being sore. It was beyond understanding.

She was nothing more than a pawn for the one she pledged her life to, committing heinous deeds for nothing in return. Tarnished and tainted by rage, she forfeited her very soul for the death of another.
She awoke in the lands between, childhood ended, and now Tarnished. Beckoned by a desperate plea, as her sympathetic nature deemed it, she would respond when called. This time, she was obligor, but the obligee, perhaps a cruel fate, but one she would take to hunt that which led her down this path in the first place.
