Thousand of years ago dragons ruled the land. Burned shit. Caused a ruckus. Number one on everyone's shit list.
That stopped when Witchers, hunters of monsters and experts in combat and death dealing, arrived and drove dragons to the brink of extinction.
Now, less than a thousand dragons roamed the earth and Lance was one of them.
His new neighbor, Keith, happened to be a Witcher.

Summary
5 years after the events of blood and wine Ciri has taken over as Empress of Nilfgaard along with her Emperor Consort Morvran Voorhis. When the Regent of Toussaint almost bankrupts the Province Ciri needs her father to be the new regent until Anna Henrietta’s heir comes of age. Geralt comes home after a year on the Path to find a certain former Emperor as the lands new ruler and runs into trouble with a new tale of monsters and political intrigue.

Canon Divergence where Yennefer doesn't rescue Jaskier from Reince, so he has to escape himself. Although not before Reince cursed him to be unable to speak. After collapsing on the side of the road, he's found by a strange but friendly Witcher--Aiden--who understands that Jaskier is asking to go along with him on his travels North to see another Witcher. Unable to speak or write, given the state of his dominant hand in particular, makes things... interesting, to say the least. They reach Kaer Morhen, meet the other Wolf Witchers first, who are able to figure out he's Jaskier, Geralt's bard, while Geralt's out. Geralt has a tense reunion with him, thinking he'd been dead, before realizing what Jaskier's been through and feeling terribly guilty. So now it's up to him to do the talking. Yennefer and Ciri arrive, and before long the peace is ruined by Reince and other mercenaries arriving for Ciri. Jaskier manages to hold his own (barely), and the curse is lifted.
