Summary
A new wave of panic hit her. The performance. Unfamiliar faces. Judging eyes. And that eternal parental pressure. Mira felt cornered. And, like a cornered animal, she did something desperate, something insane.
Spinning abruptly towards Rumi, Mira snatched her hand from her grasp and immediately intertwined their fingers. She saw the shock in Rumi's eyes but didn't stop.
"I'll be there! And… and my fiancée, Rumi, will be there too!"
Minho blinked in surprise, his gaze shifting from their joined hands to Rumi's face, who seemed to have forgotten how to breathe.
"Fiancée?" he drew out at last. "Well… alright. Okay, see you then."
He turned and walked away, and Mira felt her cheeks burn. But before she could process what she had done, a triumphant shriek echoed from the street:
"HOORAY! RUMIRA FOREVER!"
