This explores the digital behaviours that contribute to the propagation of scam content on Tumblr, particularly charitable fraud shared via anonymous messages. Using a simulated fraudulent Carrd website and AI-generated Tumblr profile, user responses to fake donation asks across 20 blogs were tested. The results reveal over half of the users shared the content without verifying its legitimacy. Drawing on literature in cybercrime, phishing susceptibility, and dual-system decision theory, this article argues that platform culture, user trust, and socio-emotional triggers contribute significantly to fraudulent link dissemination. This research highlights the urgent need for improved digital literacy and platform-based scam mitigation on Tumblr and similar social media ecosystems.
