Her scar was burning again.
It never really stopped. It hurt all the time, every day, at least a bit. At this point, waking up with a dull ache or irritating sting meant Hermione was in for a great day. The background level of pain was akin to a dripping tap or beeping smoke detector she had learned to ignore. Days where she didn’t need to take anything to numb the pain and could smile and laugh almost like nothing was wrong. Almost like normal.
Some days were not as good. Some days it throbbed, itched, pulsated and spiked shooting fire in random bursts. Days where she was prone to be short-tempered; snapping at people, impatient and abrasive but still herself. Still held together and coping just fine. Less good days.
Today though, today the fucking thing burned. It was going to be a Bad Day.

And below that, an addition, pencil so light he could have missed it if he hadn't been obsessing over the book and its previous owner so much: Thesaurum Inimici.
He swallows. He clearly remembers casting the spell against Malfoy – even though he had no idea of what would happen – completely out of himself and blinded by a feeling, hatred perhaps, something wild and animalistic settling deep in his bones, that he couldn't explain.
"I did not leave you, Potter," Draco repeats, and the name sounds like a plea in the air between them.
In which the Sectumsempra curse doesn't hurt your opponent, rather it slices open his most secret desire, crushing it to pieces. Harry casts it on Draco, and finds himself bleeding out on the bathroom floor.

He wouldn't wish those vicious creatures on anyone. And Potter already had a lot to deal with on his plate. A petty school rivalry did not mean he wanted him to suffer from such a cruel fate.
