Where Kaveh and Alhaitham broke up months ago, they swear by Celestia that they don't miss each other but their stepbrother and cousin don't believe it and will do something about it.
Something like Phainon suggesting to fake a relation between them so they forced Kaveh and Alhaitham to stay together and realizes they miss each other. Mydei agrees with him, without knowing completely that Phainon is deeply, miserably in love with him. But Phainon will sacrifices anything to return the light of his live to his cousin. To his only family.

There was no way. He was mistaken, surely, but the facts remained. Alhaitham had shut the curtains, had lain down in bed, and was resolutely unmoving.
The realisation was close pressing, somehow more so than the planks of wood above, the floorboards below.
Oh, Gods. Alhaitham didn’t know he was here.
So it was all entirely worthless, these imaginary back-and-forths with Alhaitham’s supposed intentions and his refute of them. He had cornered himself entirely, and Alhaitham was none the wiser to his plight, believed he had the house to himself, and was partaking in a nap before dinner.
If he moved now and was mistaken for a daylight burglar, there would be no telling how Alhaitham would react. He would much rather remove himself from this position over being yanked out by force.
Not that he had much dignity to preserve. He was stuck beneath his roommate’s bed, breathing in his own perspiration, with skin clinging to the floor. It was ridiculous, it was humiliating, and there was nothing else for it.
“Can you get me a towel, please?”
(Due to a crucial oversight, Kaveh gets stuck beneath Alhaitham’s bed - in the nude. Years later, on Kaveh’s birthday, the incident is revisited.)
