Summary
Harry didn't want to sit and wait for Louis to text him. He didn't want to check his phone over and over, minute after minute, but he did. Harry grieved for the living. Louis and Harry had been in contact via text and the occasional call on and off for the past three years. They would meet for tea when Louis came to Holmes Chapel to visit friends and family. They would sneak visits together in the abandoned studio late at night to be together. "One last time" they would tell each other between stolen kisses and heated but tender touches.
When Harry came home and told his sister of the beautiful boy with snowflakes in his hair and cold on his cheeks, Gemma had warned him not to tell anyone. It wasn't that Harry wouldn't be accepted for liking a boy, but it would make his life difficult in the little town of Holmes Chapel. His sister told him that he should keep Louis a secret, keep him to himself so that their mother wouldn't have another thing to worry about when she already had the messy divorce on her hands. Harry had thought Gemma was right, he kind of fell in love with the idea of keeping Louis to himself, it would be their little secret. Harry told Louis the next time he visited Holmes Chapel the following month. -

Summary
Harry’s face is red, and his heart is beating so fast he’s scared it’ll stop. Harry feels confidence swimming in his chest. Would you mind if I kiss you?”
Louis smiles and faces Harry, “aren’t you supposed to wait for the end of the night for that?”
Harry cups Louis’ cheek with his free hand and leans in. “Maybe. Is this alright?”
Louis’ eyes flicker to Harry’s lips and he nods. Harry presses his lips to Louis’. He thinks he feels sparks, actual sparks. Harry thinks this is perfect. He feels Louis sigh lightly against his lips and Harry forgets how to breathe. He drops his chips and pulls Louis closer by his shirt, Louis drops his chips too and they splatter all over their shoes. Harry couldn’t care less because Louis is crowding him against the wall, stepping on his toes to get impossibly closer, and never taking his lips off of Harry’s.
Harry thanks whatever forces brought Louis to him; he feels as if all of his efforts in his wishes are coming true. His wishes are coming true with this boy with freckles across his cheeks and soft lips.
It wasn’t.
Louis wasn’t Harry’s wishes coming true. -

"You're a part of my job," Louis spits back trying not to sound irritated. Louis knows he's right; he knows that he bends his rules for Harry, that he gives him special treatment, that he gives Harry more of himself than anybody else gets.

When Harry gets home, after he’s dragged his sore body up the stairs, he lays on the tile floor under the scalding hot water in the shower, fully clothed, until it runs freezing cold over him. He tries to cry, to do something to make his body feel normal, but he can’t. It’s like his soul was torn from his body and left on that floor.
He scratches at his skin and scrubs the parts of his body that aren’t covered in clothes trying to clean himself of the night. It doesn’t work. When he looks at himself in the mirror, his tongue is still blue from the pills, his skin is red, bruised, and cut from his nails, and there’s still bright red lipstick stuck to his skin like a tattoo. -
